Hong Hao, director of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, said
Shanghai will stage an "ecological Expo" in 2010 when delivering a speech today
at a forum focusing on ecology in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.
Expo organizers will highlight the "green" approach during each stage of
preparations for the grand event, including Expo site design, construction,
operations and follow-up utilization, Hong said.
Hong revealed that organizers plan to build four large parks at the
5.28-square-kilometer Expo site to make green coverage reach more than one
million square meters.
All facilities at the site would embody the energy-saving concept and
Shanghai Expo would provide a platform for countries and cities to display and
share knowledge in solving environmental issues, according to Hong.
